Where are you at the moment?
I am just back at home in Tampere, Finland after a journey to Rio, where I was invited to participate CRio II Creativity World Biennale with the images of Interior/Exterior series.
What inspire you?
My longlasting endless inspiration is light.
Tell us about your project Interior/Exterior
Images in the Interior/Exterior -series are made with camera obscura -techique, that I have been using over 20 years. By using it I can most concretically work together with light. Interior/Exterior -series consist of images that I have photographed inside ordinary rooms, that I have first transformed into camera obscuras.
The project has documentary basis charting of the living environment of a human being but besides of that the images are also landscapes of mind: reflections of thoughts, dreams, fears and reveries.
" Camera obscura (Latin for “dark room”) is a phenomenon where light passing into a dark space
through a hole or lens forms an upside-down image of the view outside.
Scientists, artists and philosophers have used the phenomenon for centuries in their work."
Do you work on a new project at the moment? Tell us more!
I work now with a new project called Milavida, which is a name of a beautiful old house here in Tampere. It has been empty for too long time and feels so sad because of that. I am transforming it´s rooms as camera obscura: letting light to fill the empty rooms with reflections from outside...
Where and how do you celebrate Christmas?
I celebrate Christmas here in Finland very silently and minimalistically with my tiny family.
